TOP 5 JOBS IN HIGH DEMAND AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Many people are worried about job security in the wake of the coronavirus. Even in the field of healthcare, 1.5 million jobs have been lost.  But not all positions are decreasing hiring; in fact, some are experiencing a boom.  Here are five jobs that have increased in demand in the pandemic.

1. Medical cannabis workers. In most states medical marijuana workers have been allowed to continue their work.  One company, Green Leaf Medical, has hired 300 new workers, and another, Curaleaf, has seen a 300% increase in demand for their product.  Sales are expected to reach 30 billion over the next four years.
2. Physician’s assistants, or PAs.  PAs originally were used in the 1960s to help doctors in rural areas. Since they have no specialty and are required to keep up to date in all forms of medicine, they are often used in emergency rooms to keep up with patients. It’s estimated that job positions for them with go up by 31% in the next ten years.
3. Home health workers. With various quarantines in place, workers who are able to visit the homes of those who need medical care are in high demand. The field is expected to grow by 38% in the next ten years.
4. Temporary health care providers. Since the pandemic has required shifting workers to where they are most needed, companies that provide temporary health workers have stepped in to meet the demand. There has been a 66% increase in demand for these services.
5. Nurses. Like with the temporary health care providers, any worker who can be flexible with their position in healthcare is in high demand. Registered traveling nurses have quadrupled in demand in some states. But it’s not just the traveling ones; nurses who specialize in emergency care and infection control have doubled in demand.

Will other positions open up as a result of the epidemic?  It’s possible.  Anyone who is looking for a new position in healthcare should keep an eye on them. But there are several different ways to get into the industry now if someone wants to.
