Dr. William L. Barrett is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Cincinnati and is Medical Director of the UC Barrett Cancer Center. Dr. Barrett received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Barrett’s training included an internship in General Surgery at the University of Cincinnati followed by residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Cincinnati and fellowship in brachytherapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He has been on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati since 1992 and has experience in treating patients with most types of cancers.
Dr. Barrett’s areas of particular interest include cancer of the prostate, cancer of the head and neck and the use of radiation seeds as well as external radiation therapy for a number of cancers. Dr. Barrett has focused on cancer education for the general public as well as physicians in the greater Cincinnati area. He has organized a number of educational conferences and is very involved in medical student and resident education at the University of Cincinnati.
